Terms & conditions

The agreement between you and App Spender.

Last updated September 2026

1. The service

App Spender scans uploaded bank statements solely to identify recurring app, software, SaaS, streaming and subscription payments, and to provide keep, cancel, downgrade and replacement guidance based on what it finds.

2. Your responsibilities

You confirm that you are 18 or older, that you are authorised to upload the statement you provide, and that you consent to it being scanned for recurring app and subscription payments only. App Spender is not for children: POPIA allows their information to be processed only with a parent or guardian's consent, which this service has no way to obtain.

3. Guidance, not action

App Spender does not cancel subscriptions on your behalf and does not connect to your bank. Cancellation, downgrade and replacement steps are guidance; the final action, and its consequences, rest with you and the relevant provider.

4. Estimates

Savings figures are estimates based on detected amounts and recurrence patterns. Actual amounts may differ due to provider pricing, contracts, promotional rates and billing cycles.

5. Debit orders

Stopping a debit order at your bank may not cancel the underlying service, and may leave you liable for arrears. Always cancel with the provider as well.

6. Your full report

The review in the chat is free. The full summary, the report download and the share card require an email address. What is stored with it, and why, is set out beside the email field and in the privacy policy. Giving it does not sign you up for marketing.

7. Replacements we build

If you ask us to build a replacement for an app, building it costs you nothing and your first month of using it is free. We tell you the monthly price after that before you commit, and nothing is charged unless you agree to it.

8. Liability

The service is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, App Spender is not liable for losses arising from decisions taken on the basis of the guidance provided. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act.
