FAQ
The questions people ask before they upload anything.

Do you connect to my bank?
No. You upload a statement file yourself. We never ask for logins, passwords, PINs or OTPs, and there is no bank integration to compromise.
Can't ChatGPT or Claude do this?
For spotting subscriptions, largely yes, if you prompt well. But you'd be pasting your entire financial life into a chat window, and at the end of it you'd still be doing all the cancelling and migrating yourself.
Why is it free?
Charging for savings undoes the savings. The scan, the review, and every cancellation and downgrade step cost nothing.
Am I really paying twice?
Most people are, somewhere. Overlapping apps, forgotten plans, features already included in something else you pay for. We find the overlap and centralise it.
Can I remove sensitive information first?
Yes, please do. Delete balances, salary lines and personal details before uploading; we only scan for recurring app and subscription payments, so the result is the same. One thing worth knowing: drawing a black box over a PDF in Preview or Acrobat covers the words on screen but leaves the text in the file, and we would still read it. Delete the rows instead, or export a CSV and delete the columns you would rather not send.
What happens to my statement?
It's deleted immediately after the scan. Only the recurring payments found in it remain, in your browser, and you can delete those in one click from the chat. If you unlock your full report with your email, the apps from our app list in it are stored with your email for 24 months. Email privacy@appspender.com to have them erased sooner.
Is this a budgeting app?
No. We don't analyse income, affordability, debt, groceries, rent or transfers. Recurring app and subscription payments, and nothing else.
Do you cancel subscriptions for me?
Not automatically. We give you the exact steps and an editable cancellation message, so you stay in control of every account you own.
What about Netflix, Spotify and other content apps?
Content subscriptions can't be replaced by a tool: the catalogue is the product. For those we help you cancel, downgrade, rotate month to month, or move to a legal free or ad-supported option.
How accurate are the savings figures?
They're estimates built from the amounts on your statement and the plans providers publish. Your actual bill depends on your specific plan, contract and billing cycle, so treat every number as a starting point, not a quote.
